All the lives I live in the patterns the river make.....  Robert Seatter

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Thames Path, Kelmscott Manor launches a day of River Walks.

Join poet Robert Seatter and artist Jessica Palmer on an exploratory walk at Kelmscott Manor, following the river Thames.  This waterway, that so inspired William Morris's designs and writings, will be the focus of a gentle ramble, reflecting on what rivers mean to all of us.

You will hear new and original poems commissioned for the anniversary, take inspiration to write some texts of your own and look closely at flora and fauna in its habitat to create a sequence of sketches

The walk will take approximately two hours, will be easy walking (but please wear sensible waterproof shoes and bring a cagoul in case of rain) and will be limited to 15 persons per group.

All materials are included.  Price £35.00 per person

Robert Seatter is currently poet in residence for the river Thames.  He is author of eight acclaimed poetry collections and is also a broadcast historian and presenter.  He has previous professional expertise as teacher, publisher and performer.  You can find out more about Robert here About

Jessica Palmer is an artist whose work combines papercutting, collage, ink and watercolour painting.  She works in mixed media, bringing together her origins as an illustrator and her paper artistry.  She is often described as "the 21st Century Mary Delany" for her botanical work.  Her extensive commissions have included Disney Pixar, English Heritage, National Trust, a range of national/international museums and festivals.  Just some of her site-specific 3D installations include Hampton Court, Stourhead (NT) and the Tower of London.  Jessica is also the author of The Art of Papercutting (Search Press) and several other bestselling titles.

In 2025, Robert and Jessica collaborated on a summer of creativity of Kelmscott Manor, inspired by the House of Words poetry collection.  Jessica built a cardboard model of Kelmscott Manor which was installed in the Manor's Attic and sparked creative responses from visitors
