Handmade large pomegranate serving bowl

Debbie Howard is a ceramic artist based in Witney, Oxfordshire. She works by hand in her home studio, surrounded by a quirky cottage garden and accompanied by her pug, ducks and chickens.

This collection brings together pomegranates and strawberries, drawing on the patterns and traditions of Kelmscott Manor and the Arts and Crafts movement. The repeating pomegranates echo the natural forms of William Morris’s designs, while the tiny strawberries recall the fruit beds at Kelmscott and the thieving thrushes that inspired his Strawberry Thief.

Each piece is hand-built in stoneware, with patterns pressed into the clay by hand. Small variations in form and texture give every piece its own quiet character. In the Arts and Crafts spirit of bringing beauty and usefulness together, the pieces are dishwasher and microwave safe, made to be lived with and enjoyed every day.
